Kerala Trip (Allepey,Munnar,Thekkady)

Kerala Trip

We have been to kerala ( GODS own Country) recently with friends.
we visited Allepey,munnar,thekkady.

We have direct train from bangalore to Allepey (Trivendram express No.16321 only on thursday but).
The train started around 7:00PM IST

Day-1
The train reached almost on time. We have booked accomodation and a cab for travelling in advance.
We stayed in a home stay named Arunima residency, it was a good home stay.It costed Rs800 per day per room on a weekday.
And the cab its was Tavera for 7 people for 3 days costed around Rs7500/-

After having breakfast we headed for Boat House which is a typical attraction in Allepey.
The boathouse was awesome ,we travelled for 5-6 hours in the boat through the back waters and small villages.
Generally in these kind of boat house they offer some kind of hot drink/coconut water as a welcome drink. And provide some tea and fruits as snacks. And they prepare delicious food in the boat, the speciality there is the fish(People say that fish will be good),but I never had though.

One more thing to notice on the backwaters at some places there are completely covered by green vegetation that you will never know if thats a canal or just garden filled with vegetation. Also lots of water plants keep floating on the surface of the water.

Kerala has a huge streams of backwaters even connecting some cities. In the boat house we have some open place in entrance just like a hall where every one can sit chat, gossip etc...while enjoying the back waters. Also there will be lots of boats travelling on the back waters ranging from ordinary ones to highly luxurios ones. Also we noticed people preparing the boats
in Allepey itself.Heard that luxurios boats will cost around Rs60 laksh for buying one(so expensive). We played a lots of games on the boat house ,got down for lunch at field (but had lunch on boat itself :) for taking snaps and after that we started on our return journey. The boat house costed us around Rs7000/- for our batch.Generally the boat houses will have 1 full trip including night where they take through small villages etc ...and it cost per Rs5000 or so per 2 people but varies from boat to boat.

After that we went to Nagaraja temple which is very famous temple in that area. This temple has been covered with thick fencing to avoid poisonous snakes creeeping in.

Also the road from that temple is parallel to sea it looks like local people created some high barrier against the sea and built small tents on top of that so at some places the tides were very high as some of beach is obstructed by stones put my local people ,so there was tide coming in from the ocean and previos tide which was unable to reach was bouncing back and at the points where the tides clash water rised around 10ft or so.It was really to watch that
Also on the way back to room there is a beach where back waters join the sea.Its a awesome scenary but it will be closing around 7:00PM or so.

Day-2

We had a typical kerala breakfast Appam,IdiAppam and egg masala served by the same home stay people.
The we started our journey to Thekkady at around 8:00AM and reached thekakdy by 1:00 PM or so.
Thekady is about ~140kms from Allepey.

Thekaddy is famous for its Periyar Wild Life(Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary).
Periyar wild life is one the largest Tiger reserves in India.
There are many activities available in Thekaday like
1.Cloud walk (trekking in a mountainous region)
2.Nature walk(day time trekking)
3.Jungle Patrol(night time trekking)
4.Bamboo rafting
5.Jungle camp
6.Boating
..

We had boating where we were given life jackets and the boat took us through periyar forest ,where we saw varios wild animals .The air which comes from the forest over the waters of Periyar lake is awesome. It was 2 hour trip in the boat.
By the time we completed the boat trip it was 5:30PM or so then we started our journey to Munnar.
It was like ~100kms or so from Thekkady but it horrible ghat road I had ever seen, not the road is bad but there are steep and narrow turnings .

Munnar is a hill station at an altitude of 6000 feet. Its summer resort with continous strips of tea plantations.
We reached the Home stay we already booked that night.
This home stay named Ambat home stay is awesome.
Thing noticed in Munnar is the hotel rooms dont have fans ofcourse no human will need a fan at such low temperatures.

Day-3

We stared in the morning for roaming around Munnar.
Munnar is the one of the best places I had ever been.
I guess its honey moon spot too.

Depending our time there we lots of options to explore.

We visited a place called Top point and lots of places on the way.
The top point is still at higher elevation than Munnar its like ~25kms from munnar and again its ghat road.
On the way is a continous strip of tree plantations
green...green....green....ultimate greenary.

We had a lots of pics taken on the way with different creative ideas.
Once we reached the top station we took at trek for another 200mts or so to get a view of clouds.
There it just seemed that cloud a little away from me and the clouds are not moving.
Its a awesome scenary again.
Its the first time I saw the clouds that close.
We spent some time there enjoying nature and greenary.

On the way back there is speed boating in the lakes situated in the valleys.
Also there is dam which seems to be very lively and is full of water.
Once we reached back to Munnar we did some shopping for some tea products and chocolates for which Munnar is famous for.

Then we started around 1:00 PM to reach Thene where we are supposed to catch a bus to Bangalore and again ghat road for 80kms .Then we got the bus and back to bangalore and back to routine.

P.S Many people say that keralites use only coconut oil for cooking but Thank God  and his country we did not get any.
